SAHRIT participation in the 41st session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights

SAHRIT participated in the 41st session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the preceding NGO Forum in Ghana from the 16th to the 30th of May 2007.

The session was noteworthy for the fact that the Commission considered a number of reports, i.e. the reports of Zambia, Kenya and Zimbabwe. The Commission continued its recent practice of asking many detailed questions of the state. SAHRIT had provided technical assistance to Zimbabwean civil society in the drafting of their shadow report and members of the Zambian State delegation had received training from SAHRIT on the drafting of state party reports. SAHRIT is pleased that there has been an increased interest in the drafting and filing of state party reports in the sub-region.
